Something I love that I never expected when I set up Bound in a Book?

By the time a memory book is created, by the time it is perfected, I feel like I know the people in the photos in person, even if I’ve not actually met them.

I see their funny sides, their softer sides, I sometimes hear about their hopes and dreams. I’ve listened to friends and partners wax lyrical about their loved ones, and I’ve heard family stories that might never be told around a dinner table. And yes - of course, I have seen photos that no one would ever share on public platforms (no, I’m not going to show them to you).

It’s quite beautiful and I know it is a privileged insight and I am grateful for it.

On my end, the tricky bit is not reacting to someone like I know them if I ever bump into them (it has happened)… and there have been a couple of times I’ve driven myself crazy trying to remember where I know someone who is sat a few tables away from me in a restaurant, only to realise I only recognise them from a photo in a book I’ve created.

I am always so grateful to clients who allow photos and details of their books to be shared by me - otherwise I’d never be able to show you what it is that I do!

But in person, especially if you are in company, I act a bit like a therapist and will pretend I don’t know you (and your photo secrets) unless you approach me yourself... so if you spot me out and about, come say hi! 😉
